Use PEP to Potty Train Your Child

When potty training your child, there are three key components you need for your child to be successful. Forget all those potty training products. What you and your child needs is PEP.

PEP stands for Patience, Encouragement and Praise.

Patience in Potty Training Goes a Long Way
Before attempting to potty train your child, you will need to muster up every ounce of patience you can possibly find within yourself. Your child will need you to be patient with him/her during the process because without it, the stress level and pressure will be counterproductive.

Encouragement for the Smallest Potty Training Accomplishments Brings Success
When given encouragement, children seem to have no limit to the things they can accomplish. During potty training, you'll want to give your child encouraging words, even in times when he/she has wet his/her pants. Focus on the positive and downplay the negative. Use positive reinforcement and your child will make great strides towards becoming diaper-free.

Praise Your Child for Every Stride Toward Potty Training Success
Giving your child praise goes a long way. Your child loves your attention and loves to please. Give your child your full attention with positive and kind words. Let your child know that he/she has done a great job no matter how small the potty training accomplishment.
