How to Prepare Yourself for Potty Training Your Child

Once your child is displaying signs of potty training readiness, you can begin the potty training process. However, before you get started, it’s important to keep a few things in mind:

• Each child is different. Not only does every child learn at a different speed, but what works for one child may not work for another. You have to find out what works for your child.

• Don’t push your child. If you push your child to use the potty, you will counteract any strides you’ve already made with your child. It’s important to remain calm and be sensitive to your child’s feelings when potty training. The lower your stress and frustration level, the quicker your child will succeed at potty training.

• Don’t worry that your child isn’t potty training at the speed of other children his age. Remember: no child has ever worn a diaper in high school (well, not because he wasn’t potty trained, anyway).

For hands-on potty training help, register your child for a Potty Rockers™ class.
